pc problems please help

Post #1 by Chrisbe_Duck » Tue Jul 26, 2016 8:06 pm

Hi all I've been pc gaming for awhile now but incountered a pretty big problem resently.
Basically I think my graphics card is buggered but I'd like a second opinion.
I'll be playing along normally then all of a sudden the picture will freeze or the screen will go black and the sound will ether get stuck in a loop or will go in slow motion.

Please help,
thanks.

Overheating, not enough cool air getting in.
Hard drive could be on the way out.

Hi Chris, welcome to MLG. Give it a good clean out if its full of dust, make sure motherboard drivers etc. are all up to date. Also get hardware monitor and check the temps of cpu and gpu.

This a good programme for monitoring temps. Drag the folder to desktop and click on the black square. Play a few games like Battlefield,Division and see what your max temps get too after a game.

had a couple of "display drivers have stopped working and been recovered" error messages as well does that hing towards the graphics card being Fd as its all up to date ?

Yeah that do sound like a GPU problem. Try different drivers maybe? If you know what you are doing you could try flashing a compatible bios too the card matching the make, model and clocks of your card with nvflash. It could also be over heating so do check those temps as that will cause a "display drivers have stopped working and been recovered" error. Here is TechPowerUp's collection of VGA bios's : https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/

You could leave the side panel off, rig up a 120-140mm fan pointing at the gpu or re applying thermal grease mite do the trick :)
