How to mod hailea water chillers (1650/3300cp) for subzero

Post #1 by Pulse88 » Mon Nov 24, 2014 10:32 pm

After some time modding the Hailea chillers i have solved the limet with only 3degress watertemps and shutdown cycles.

Modding this means WARRANTY VOIDED!!!!

What you nead for mod is:

-ranco etc-111000-000 controller(singlestage) easy find on ebay.
-insultion tape like arma flesion atleast 1.5 square mm. alot of ampere goes through kontroller even for 1650cp one. I have 2.5 square mm cables on both 1650 and 3300cp chillers
x for insulation on tank (smaller ones of hailea chillers have no insulation on tank/evap) LD cooling have armaflex reels to buy for this.
-Some wires for cable exten
OK lets first start with the little one (1650cp one)

First thing i would do is strip down case around the chiller so evap/tank get some insulation.

-insulate tank/evap
-Change temp sensor its located at the water in pipe on evap/tank ( on picture the cable that comes from water pipe)
-After that is done its time for some cable extension. (The cable on picture thats comes from a white box and have a cable glove)
-When that is done reassemble the chiller case

Next step its controller installation
-First 1650cp electricity diagram
1.[thumbnail]https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1092x819q90/908/mEhkoQ.jpg[/thumbnail]
Dont read what i have whrite on electricity manual its wrong
2.[thumbnail]https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1092x819q90/538/XbiTWK.jpg[/thumbnail]

3.[thumbnail]https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1092x819q90/903/m9crFn.jpg[/thumbnail]

1.Blue/(white in my controller) is com cable (L in diagram)
2.brown/brown is 240v (ac1 or N cable in diagram)
3. Red/(Black in my controller) is CL,fan etc (evry ting that neads controlling)
- As seen in picture 2 and 3 you nead to put a cable between 240v and C

-If you have wired wrong the chiller wont start.

When this is done you will most likly have a sub zero chiller of the 1650cp one. ;)

-Now over to the big one 3300cp one :D

1. only thing you nead to do is remove front cover/fanfilter to replace tempsensor, it came pre insulated
You can se the temp sensor cable from evap/tank

2 As with 1650cp one you nead cable extension so you can place ranco controller on chiller chassi

3. over to some E-diagrams

4.[thumbnail]https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1092x819q90/674/UFAjU6.jpg[/thumbnail]
5.[thumbnail]https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1092x819q90/538/XbiTWK.jpg[/thumbnail]
6.[thumbnail]https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1092x819q90/538/Tegddm.jpg[/thumbnail]

1.Black/Black(6) is com cable (L in picture 4)
2.Red/white(6) is 240v (N cable in picture 4)
3. Orange,Brown/ Brown(6) This is Fan and compressor in pic 4.
The ground cable in pic 6 is Ht cable in pic 4 should not be inserted in ranco controller.
Reason is that chiller goes in heating mode when this cable is conected to NO in picture 5.

4. As with 1650cp controller you nead to bridge C and 240v in picture 5.

If you got this right the chiller will become a subzero chiller
